I tell visual stories. I draw from experiences gained amid such wildly diverse cultural environments as those of the flat Illinois farmlands of my youth, the rugged mountains of Colorado, the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, historic western Europe, the dramatic West Michigan dunelands, the urbanized desert of Southern California — and the domestic environments that have accompanied extended stays in each of these dissimilar geographies.
My art, then, is a chronicle of what I've observed across decades and continents. My visual lexicon is in some respects a travelogue in which people, events, or circumstances, can be imagined or re-imagined to create a poetic, narrative about the world not necessarily as it is, rather as it might be.
